Terre di Canossa: a green event

Der Inhalt dieser Seite ist nur auf Englisch verfügbar

The Terre di Canossa was the first “zero-emissions” classic car race.

For the fifth consecutive year, Terre di Canossa will adopt a conscious approach to protect and sustain the environment with two concrete actions:

         • selecting the suppliers carefully to reduce greenhouse gases along the whole supply chain;
         • planting new trees in selected areas to compensate the carbon dioxide emissions.
Scuderia Tricolore and Canossa Events stand up together for the environment, confirming their approach to organising zero-emission events.
Terre di Canossa will repeat the experience of the CarbonZero project. It has been implemented for the first time in the 2015 edition, the very first event in its field to have ever achieved an added value in the preservation of the environment.
Therefore, through the CarbonZero certification, Scuderia Tricolore and Canossa Events commit themselves to contain and eliminate the total amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions produced by the race.
The CarbonZero project has been created and developed by Studio Alfa, and it has been validated according to the international standard UNI EN ISO 14064. CarbonZero allows an immediate calculation of the emission inventory of the event on the basis of appropriate emission factors, and it also offers active solutions for a responsible carbon management.

In the case of the Terre di Canossa, the environmental impact of the event will be compensated by planting a sufficient number of trees to fully offset the amount of carbon dioxide produced. Additionally, a careful selection of suppliers, hotels, services and racing partners will contribute to further reducing the emissions.
“Our wonderful planet deserves to be protected with the same care we show to our own classic cars. – Luigi Orlandini explains the reasons behind his choice with these words. – It is true that the total amount of emissions produced by classic cars are completely irrelevant on a planetary scale when compared with those produced by transportation, energy production and livestock, however we want to do our part in helping the environment: this way, the crews will be able to leave the mark of their tyres on the beautiful Italian roads without leaving any on our climate.”
